I finally went back...

I finally felt like it was long enough that I could finally show my face here again!

Maybe I need to elaborate here for you...be ready this is the most embarrassing thing for me!!!

It was back in 2002. I was potty training Maddi at the time and my two best friends wanted to meet for our weekly lunch at Rubio's. We would always go after the noon rush because we took our kids and they totaled 10 in all. We literally took over the joint.

We were there eating having fun while our kids tormented the fish in the tanks by running around and just being kids.

Well me being the ever vigilant mom kept asking Maddi, "Do you have to go potty?" every five minutes. She was doing so well, or so I thought.

Then this lady walked in with her friends and ordered and they sat down sort of by us. We decided to try to settle the kids down since we were not the only ones there now.

When the ladies order was up they went to get it and I was grabbing Maddi to get her out of their way and one lady pointed out to me, "Be careful don't slip, there's beans on the floor." I looked down at the beans and right away I KNEW they were not beans!!!!

Meanwhile the lady had already gone up to the guy behind the counter (who by the way knew my friends and me by name because we were regulars) and told him about the "beans" on the floor, so he was almost there with the broom and dust pan.

I scooped Maddi up and rushed her to the bathroom and proceeded to clean her up. Apparently her underwear was so loose on here that it just fell out because there were no signs of an accident.

When we finally exited the bathroom, the "beans" were cleaned up and my friends were nowhere to be seen. I looked out the window and there they were laughing hysterically in the parking lot. I proceeded to the exit almost running hoping that my buddy behind the counter was in back or something and I could leave unnoticed...I wish it were that easy :(

"Good bye, and have a nice day" I heard from behind the counter, I didn't even look back I just kept running!!!!! (not one of my better moments)

To this day I still don't know if the guy behind the counter realized what those "beans" were or not.

So there you have it, probably one of my most embarrassing moments ever! And yes I have not been back to Rubio's since. I know I have moved to a different city since then, but there is always that fear that my picture is hanging back in the office saying "Beware of this woman and her kids!!!"

Needless to say the only thing left on the floor from my visit yesterday was a lemon and a few crumbs (which I made my kids clean up). And the guy behind the counter didn't recognize me :)

This post is dedicated to Esther and Kim, Thanks for ditching me!!!!!

It Sucks Getting Old!!!!!!!

That seems to be my motto these days. Not for my self, I'm only getting younger ;)

It seems to be a daily thing I have to tell my father in-law.

I am currently, when I'm not counting pills to make sure he took them, in the process of convincing him that he needs to be collecting Social Security. I know he could get more if he waits for another year and and a half, but right now he needs money!!!!

And at the rate he's going with not taking his meds he will not live long enough to enjoy that extra money if he waits.

We decided over the weekend to lay down some rules with Dave's dad. We were tired of the yo yo routine of him being fine one day and the next day, because he refuses to take his meds, his sugar would be over 550 and he is combative and then comatose the next min. My kids don't need to see him that way because he is stubborn. (I swear I have a sixth child!)

I'm just frustrated!!!

On a lighter note Dave and I went away for a night over the weekend and it was so relaxing. We left right after sacrament meeting on Sun, in fact Dave didn't even know we were going. I went o him and told him to meet me at home, he was so surprised! We went down to Carlsbad and stayed by the beach. It rained the whole time but the jacuzzi was warm and the breakfast was delicious. We came home late Mon night to reality! We decided we need to be gone longer next time. (I could only be gone a day because I needed to change the bandages on Don's foot)

We've decided a cruise is next on our agenda!! Any one want to join?

If this whole experience has taught me anything it is to be prepared for old age. Get all our stuff in order so that our kids are not left digging through papers, boxes and junk looking for important papers that are needed to make life so much easier.

It would break my heart if when I'm old, my kids had these feelings about me because I chose to be lazy and not take any responsibility for my future.

Flashback...Yes that's me circa 1986/87

My dad emailed me some pictures of me. I found this one in the mix. I just need "Oh Lamore" by Erasure or "Kiss Me" by Stephen Tin Tin Duffy playing on the background and there's a party of memories going on in my head!

I remember when I found this outfit. It was a large jacket type shirt and legging type pants in the same color. I found the jewelry, I was WAY into the chunky jewelry then. I wore it for the first time to a stake dance (I think it was a casual dance) and boy did I think I was hot stuff! I actually met my first love at that dance Brian Adair. I guess he thought I was hot stuff too :)

I look at this now and think, my mother really let me out of the house like this, and mind you this was my sophomore year school picture!!!

For those of you out there who remember me like this...we're old. For those of you who are seeing this for the first time...I'm sorry.

p.s. Makenzy & Maddi are rolling on the floor laughing so hard at this picture!!!
