Update time...

It has been a crazy month and again I have neglected this blog.

I really haven't neglected it on purpose, just conveniently forgot about it.

Dave is in the process of getting heart tests and blood work done and many other things to ready himself for the procedure to close the hole in his heart.

We hope to have it done by the end of the year.

For the first time in 5 years I did not cook thanksgiving dinner. We went to Dave's brothers house and all I had to bring was a pie and green salad...easy peasy!

I am going through turkey withdraws though...I didn't get my leftovers!!!

I don't remember the month of November that well. I just know that it is over today and my little Guy Jake turns 7 tomorrow!!!

Well here's to December and hopefully a non eventful month for the Heisel family!!!

And this to shall pass...

"You don't have to solve all your problems you just have to outlast them"

This is what my mother told me this weekend and I have been repeating it to myself every hour for the past 3 days.

2 years ago as many of you remember Dave lost his job and 11 days later he suffered a stroke. I made him swear to me that he would never put me through that kind of stress again.

He usually is pretty good at keeping his word but not this time.

Dave came home from work on Thursday "Feeling funny" as he says. His right hand and foot were tingly. He didn't want to worry me so he downplayed it. Well by 4:00am Friday morning he woke me up and said his entire right side was numb. So off to the hospital we went.

After many tests one including a light on the end of a tube inserted down his throat to light up his heart...we have some answers. Dave did have a small stroke, not as bad as the last because he still had muscle function. But they also found out he has a hole in his heart. He has had it since birth, it is genetic because his little brother has one as well. The hole is the reason he had the last stroke although his high blood pressure helped, but this time it was the hole that did it.

Needless to say we now have some answers and in the next week or so the hole will be repaired. Dave was able to come home the next day, he still is tingly and a little bit wobbly on his feet, but he is still with us and we are grateful that the doctors were inspired to look at his heart and not just blame it on his past history.

As for me I have aged 10 years and have at least 25 more gray hairs. I cannot tell you the thoughts that have been going through my brain these last few days. All I could think of was there is still so much we want to do together, my kids are too young.

So here I sit Monday morning after Halloween and realize I didn't even get pictures of my kids in their costumes this year. I don't remember the trunk or treat we went to, and I was released after 4 years of being Primary President on Sunday...that one still hasn't hit me yet. I know the worst is over but I think it will all hit me this week and I may have to have a good cry.
